Hi Steve,
If you already have an ISY Portal account
please follow these instructions. If you don’t, simply add your eisy/polisy to your ISY Portal account for 30 day free trial. Once that’s done, you can follow the renewal instructions at any time.

So well worth it. The one bill I enjoy paying and am thankful for.

If I already have an active 1-year license and I renew now does it extend my current license or does it just reset? I’d like to extend my portal access period.

Hi Scott,
Yes, it will extend your existing license.

I made a two year renewal in May, and the total cost was $20. I don’t understand how an increase to $39 for two years (a 95% increase) can be described as “a minor price adjustment.”
Whatever the cost is I don’t mind paying it – I just wish you had come right out and said that “… in order to maintain reliability and security, we need to double the portal cost.”

@Bill Burns,
Relatively speaking, you are right. In essence, if were charging $0.1/month and then increased it to $0.2/month, your statement would still be valid.

Agree with Bill Burns, I have 2 devices on the portal, and almost doubling the price is not a minor price increase no matter how you spin it. Considering average inflation over the past year in the US was 8% this is a pretty drastic jump. I don’t think I have had any of my other subscriptions increase this much. I think when my renewal come up I need to evaluate if its worth it

@David,
Regarding average inflation last year, I wonder whether you would mind an average increase of 5% per year? And, if so, why you do not consider 12 years with ZERO change and the average rate of inflation during those years. But I understand. No one wants to pay more for anything. Including me.

My current license expires in March 2025. Do I need to renew?

Hi Barry,
It starts on August 1st. So, not immediate and it depends on when your next renewal is.

Hi Joel, no.

Just to be clear, current subscription is fine through its expiration date (“Expiry Date” date shown on the License page in the portal).
At the time of expiration, the rate will be the new rate.
Bottom line, I don’t need to do anything now. When my current sub runs out, I’ll just renew at the new price.
Right?

Hi Donald,
Yes, precisely!

Anybody complaining about this price increase should definitely rethink their automation strategy. This is the first increase that I’ve ever seen from Universal Devices and I think it’s long overdue. I don’t want to see them run into problems because they weren’t charging enough for such a great service. Too many companies either don’t charge anything for cloud ongoing services …cough…Insteon from the past…cough …or don’t charge enough. Please support UD and the great work they do providing us reliable solutions!

I don’t have an issue with the price increase…been many years (as in since it started) at the same price. I think the wording of “minor” increase is what threw folks off. Clearly, things cost money and many increase in cost every year…and increased services, more options, etc. bring more value as well.
Nobody likes paying more for anything Michel, you are right about that! 🙂
I am not sure which I prefer more…the cable company and my garbage company slowly increasing the cost every year (or more often it seems lately) and hoping I won’t notice…or wait until a big jump is needed and then rip off the band-aid. 😉
I will pay it for sure…because I love this product and the service. Not sure I will be happy about it and jump around, but I won’t be pissed like I am at my garbage company! 🙂

@Eric Anderson,
Thank you for the feedback. I totally understand. Minor was not a good word to choose.

Still cheaper than the alternative Home Assistant cloud option at $65 from Nabu Casa (assuming you have HA connected to ISY like I do).

I just added 2 years to my current subscription and I am happy to do so as I am a long time user of UD products. I expect reliability (which I get) so I have no issue paying this subscription fee.

I just tried to renew my license and am being charged $44 for a single year – I think that this is a mistake as there has been no communications around this… Please can you tell me how to renew for 2 more years at the $39 rate announced last August? Thank you
