SCE Smart Meter Project set out to:

• Optimize connected devices based on Time-Of-Use rates
• Enable customer interaction with smart speakers using Amazon Alexa, and Google Assistant

Even though the project was halted halfway due to COVID-19, results are quite impressive:

• TOU 5-8PM saved 10% or 0.22kW on Summer Weekdays
• TOU 4-9PM saved 9.7% or 0.23kW on Summer Weekends
• High participation rate of 69%
• Potential to save $22M/Year at 10% participation and $200M/Year at 90% participation
